Spreading Joy: Adamus Resources Engineering Team Supports Orphanage This Holiday Season

On 23rd December 2024, the Engineering Department of Adamus Resources Limited exemplified the spirit of giving by extending a helping hand to the Word Alive Children's Home (Orphanage) in Esiama, Western Region, Ghana. Led by the Engineering Manager, Mr. Benjamin Ebo Abakah Haizel, the team donated essential items, including food supplies and beverages, to support the well-being of the children.

Chief Executive Officer

Angela List is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nguvu Mining Limited, a group of mining companies operating in West Africa including: Adamus Resources Limited, Northern Ashanti Mining Company Limited, Segala Mining Corporation, Samira Hill Gold Mine and Poura Resources Limited. She is responsible for balancing strategic vision with operational efficiency, ensuring that the company grows sustainably while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and adhering to regulatory requirements. Her leadership is characterized by focusing on innovation, diversity and community engagement.

Before becoming the CEO of Nguvu Mining Limited, she was the Executive Director of BCM Ghana Limited and BCM International Limited (BCM Group), both mining services companies which she was instrumental in growing from a very small business with little or no business in the counties of operation to a multinational business spanning over 7 countries and 3 continents. Angela has been a key figure in the industry for over 25 years, beginning her career with KPMG where she developed essential skills that laid her professional success. She successfully managed and executed significant projects like the Loulo Contract in Mali (now belonging to Barrick) and the largest iron ore mining operation in West Africa, Tonkolili in Sierra Leone.

Angela holds an MSc and an MBA from Manchester University and a BSc in Administration from University of Ghana respectively. She is also an Alumna of Harvard Business School.

She is currently the 2nd Vice President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines and was recently recognized as the Female CEO of the year at the 8th Ghana CEO Summit and Excellence Awards (2023), Best Mining Company (Adamus Resources Limited) Paa Grant Medals for Business Excellence (2023) and various awards including: Ghana Women’s awards, Women’s Choice Awards Africa, Corporate Leadership Excellence Awards and Swag Awards.

She is passionate about increasing women’s representation in the mining industry and encourages more women to venture into what has traditionally been a male dominated field.

Alex Obu-Simpson

Group Human Resources and Adminstration Manager

Alex is the Group Human Resources & Administration Manager responsible for developing and executing HR strategies in the group’s talent management, performance management, succession planning and all strategic people and culture functions as well as providing guidance to the CEO on people issues. He is also responsible for a healthy workforce and workplace culture that helps maximize organizational efficiency and effectiveness within the Group.

Before joining the Nguvu Group he worked as the Regional Employee Relations Manager and previously as the Vice President and Head of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs for Gold Fields West Africa. Until then he was the HR/Admin Manager for MODEC Ghana, an Oil & Gas company responsible for operating and maintaining the FPSO KNK and Kufuor in Ghana. He has several years’ experience in Learning and Development, Performance Management and Employee Relations spanning several industries including Mining, Oil & Gas, Banking, and Academia.

Alex holds a double Master of Arts Degree in Human Resource Management & Industrial Relations from Keele University, Staffordshire, United Kingdom and B. Ed Educational Psychology, University of Cape Coast. He also holds a Professional Executive Masters in Alternative Dispute Resolution (PEM-ADR) from the Gamey & Gamey Academy of Mediation and a proud alumnus of Oxford University, United Kingdom in Executive Leadership.

He is a Certified Human Resources Manager (CHRM), Leoron Institute, a member of the Chartered Institute of Human Resources Management (CIHRM), Ghana and Institute of Directors (IoD), Ghana. Alex was recognized as Africa Top 50 HR Leader, in March 2022 at the Ghana Human Resources Innovations Awards. He was also recognized as an Exemplary HR Business Leader in 2023 by the National Governance and Business Leadership Award.

Kwadwo Opoku Ansah

General Manager - Adamus Resources Limited

Kwadwo is the General Manager for Adamus Resources Limited. He is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day mining operations, ensuring effectiveness, efficiencies in cost, safety and in accordance with best international industry practices as well as the Mining and Minerals Regulations of Ghana. He is also responsible for overseeing various mining projects, from exploration and development to production and closure, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

Before joining Adamus Resources Limited, Kwadwo worked as the Mine Manager for Endeavor Mining Corporation (Burkina Mining Company, Riverstone Karma SA, Semafo Boungou Gold Operations, all of Burkina Faso; and Agbaou Gold Mine, Ivory Coast. His career trajectory at Endeavor Mining Corporation saw him rising through the ranks from Mine Planning Engineer, Senior Planning Engineer, and Mining Technical Service Manager. His career began as an Official Learner at Anglogold Ashanti, Obuasi where he obtained the underground Shift Boss certificate after which he joined the Mine Planning department of Goldfields, Tarkwa Mine. Kwadwo has accumulated over twenty years of experience in the mining industry, working in reputable organizations across West Africa.

Kwadwo is currently pursuing an Executive MBA with the University of Cumbria, UK. He holds an MSc in Mining Engineering from the University of Mines and Technology (UMAT), Tarkwa, Ghana, as well as a Certificate in Organizational Leadership and Management from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. He has a Mine Manager’s Certificate from the Inspectorate Division of the Mineral Commission of Ghana.

Kwadwo is also a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) and has published a paper titled “A Geoeconomic Planning and Evaluation Model for Artisanal Small-Scale Gold Mining in Ghana.

Nicol Nuku Newton

Group Processing & Metallurgy Manager

Nicol, with over 30 years of experience in the mineral processing industry, is the Group Processing and Metallurgy Manager. Nicol is responsible for process plant operations within the group as well as the strategies for the development/implementation of new process plants, existing process plants’ improvement to increase efficiency and reduce cost and ensure all processing and metallurgical activities comply with safety, health and environmental regulations. Nicol also has management responsibility for JB Precision, a machine shop for mostly heavy machinery and equipment.

Before joining the Nguvu Group he amassed extensive experience in the mining and metallurgy sector. Nicol was the Process Manager, Downstream, for Mining and Metals at Bechtel, United States of America. He also worked as the Director of Technical Services for Sixth Wave Innovation, USA as well as other reputable institutions including Barrick Goldstrike Limited and Anglogold Ashanti Company Limited.

Nicol holds an MSc. And BSc. Degrees in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, USA and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, as well as a Diploma Certificate in Management, IDPM Parts I & II from the Institute of Data Processing Management, UK.

Nicol’s expertise spans in LOM Capital Planning, Operation Business Analysis, Project and Operation Management.

Frederick Dziwornu

General Manager - Segala Mining Corporation (SEMICO)

Frederick is the general manager at the Tabakoto Mine of Segala Mining Corporation (SEMICO). He is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring smooth functioning of mining activities, resource allocation and supervising mining projects.

Mr. Dziwornu has over fifteen years of experience in technical, managerial, and operational roles withing the mining industry. His expertise spans the management of underground and open-pit mines, focusing on improving productivity, safety and risk mitigation. He is highly skilled in business process optimization, stakeholder management, and ensuring compliance with industry policies and regulations.

Frederick holds a BSc in Mining Engineering from the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, Ghana and various certifications and licenses in Mine and Safety Management. He is currently pursuing his MBA in Strategic Management and Consulting at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), with an expected completion in 2025.

Frederick’s technical expertise, leadership skills and strong academic background make him an asset in managing both operational and strategic components of mining, ensuring sustainable and safe business practices. He has led strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing mine efficiency, building strong community relationships, and meeting production goals.

Kenneth Mpofu

General Manager - Segala Mining Corporation (SEMICO)

Kenneth Mpofu is the general manager at the Tabakoto Mine of Segala Mining Corporation (SEMICO). He is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring smooth functioning of mining activities, resource allocation and supervising mining projects.

He is also responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to achieve production targets, operational efficiency, cost reduction goals, providing leadership, managing and optimizing material resources.

Before his appointment as the General Manager Operations at Société de Mines du Lipktako in Niger, Kenneth worked as the General Manager Exploration and Development for Metallon Corporation. He is a highly qualified, multi-skilled mining professional with vast years of experience in mine management, exploration, and mining geology across four African countries: Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Niger and the Democratic of Congo.

Kenneth holds three master’s degree in MSc Exploration Geology, University of Zimbabwe, MSc Engineering (Mining)-Mineral Resource Management, University of Witwatersrand (Wits), South Africa, MBA Business Administration Midlands State University, Zimbabwe.

Kenneth has 35 years of experience in the mining industry and is registered with SACNASP as a professional Natural Scientist with registration number 40016213 and a member of the GSSA with registration number 967631. He is known for his analytical skills, dependability, and resourcefulness.

Nana Esi Aferba Ahlijah

Legal and Compliance Manager

Nana Esi Aferba Ahlijah is a legal Practitioner with experience in Mining, Maritime, Corporate, Commercial, International Trade and Family laws across jurisdictions.

She is currently the Legal and Compliance Manager of Nguvu Group. She is responsible for identifying and managing legal risks and verifying compliance with local laws as well as guaranteeing the management and security of all mineral rights. She also provides legal advice to Senior Management to manage legal risk, regulatory compliance and manage litigation with internal and external Lawyers.

Before joining the Nguvu Group, she worked as the Managing Partner for Ariel Avery Law, responsible for managing the firm’s Lawyers and legal issues. She also worked with the Shipping companies, African Independent Coastal Services and African Independent Feeder Services Law in Tema as the in-house lawyer as well as other reputable law firms including Amitlaw, Kusi-Appiah & Associates and Enuson & Associates all in Tema.

Nana Aferba was called to the English Bar in 2010 by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in the United Kingdom. She is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn; United Kingdom and the Ghana Bar Association having been called to practice before the Supreme Court of Ghana in 2011.

She had her Post-Call Law Course at The Ghana School of Law and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Vocational Training for the Bar and a Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP Law School, United Kingdom and a BA (Hons) Publishing studies from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.

Moses Bosompem

Chief Operating Officer

Moses Bosompem is the Chief Operating Officer of Nguvu Mining Limited and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and ensuring efficient and effective execution of mining activities as well as delivering strategic objectives, directing and leading life of assets planning, enhancing productivity through streamlining processes and introducing improvement initiatives to exceed company's strategic goals.

Mr. Bosompem has over 22 years of mining experience, including 18 years at the management levels in both open pit and underground operations, with juniors and multinationals, and over a wide range of commodities and mining methods. He has undertaken leadership roles in several successful operational mining start-ups in Africa and overseas. His hands on management style have led by example and built diverse and effective teams supported by his solid experience in the full suite of mining operational and technical roles including generation of block models, pit optimization, and innovative underground mine design solutions.

A bilingual with high proficiency in English and French, and a holder of an MBA in Finance from Australian Institute of Business (AIB) of Adelaide in South Australia, Post Graduate Diploma in Lincoln International Business School at the University of Lincoln, United Kingdom and Bachelor of Science Degree (Honors) in Mining Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana with a Chartered Professional status of AusIMM.

He is an enthusiastic and solution-focused senior executive with over 25 years of experience in mining and metals sector, civil and construction industry, project development and power distribution sectors across different jurisdictions and cultures of Australia, Canada, Asia, Middle East and Africa.

Emmanuel Kobina Yamoah

Group SHSESG Manager

Emmanuel is the Group SHSESG (Safety, Health, security, environment) Manager responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations, mitigating risks, and promoting health best practices in these areas. His extensive background in health, safety, and environmental management has enabled him to implement effective strategies

Before joining the Nguvu Group he worked as the Safety, Health, Security, Environment, And Governance Manager and previously as the Occupational Health, Safety, And Environment Manager. Until then he was the Occupational Health, Safety, And Environment Superintendent for Adamus Resources Limited where he was responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability goals and mitigating risks and ensuring the well-being of employees and stake holders.

Emmanuel holds a BSc. Physics (Hons) Degree, a Diploma in Education, and several certifications in HSE management, Environmental Management, Workplace Incident Investigations etc. He is also a member of the Chamber of Mines’ Technical and security Committees.

He is a dedicated professional whose extensive experience and knowledge in SHSESG management contributes significantly to the mining industry’s commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and risk mitigation.

Daniel Opoku Frimpong

Group Finance Manager

Daniel Opoku Frimpong is the Group Finance Manager of Nguvu Mining Limited, responsible for developing and implementing financial strategies that drive the company’s growth and long-term objectives across the Group. His portfolio covers financial planning and reporting, risk management and compliance, and operational efficiency initiatives that align with Nguvu’s growth and sustainability goals.

Daniel began his professional career with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Ghana, where he advanced to the role of Senior Associate in the Assurance practice. At PwC, he managed the delivery of assurance services and training solutions across multiple industries, including banking, energy, mining and manufacturing sectors. His client portfolio included Access Bank Limited, Cummins Ghana Limited, Negotiated Benefit Trust Company Limited, African Mining Services, Mantrac Ghana Limited, Ecobank Ghana Limited, and Ecobank Development Corporation (EDC), among others.

Prior to joining Nguvu Group, Daniel built a distinguished 12-year career with African Mining Services (AMS), a subsidiary of the Perenti Group. He progressed through various leadership roles—from Management and Financial Accounting Superintendent to Accounting Manager, and ultimately Head of Finance for AMS Ghana.

A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), Daniel has over 17 years of combined experience in professional accounting and industry practice. He holds a BSc. Business Administration (Accounting) from the University of Ghana. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the same University.

Among his notable achievements are:

  • Leading the migration of AMS’ ERP system from Pulse to Pronto.
  • Playing a pivotal role in the successful transition of AMS from a branch to a company status.
  • Implementing reforms that strengthened regulatory and internal compliance across the McDan Group of Companies, where he served as Internal Audit Consultant (2024–2025).

Daniel’s career has provided him with broad international exposure, with experience in financial reporting, accounting, compliance, internal control reviews, and audits across Ghana, the wider African sub-region, Australia, the United Kingdom, and other European countries.

Ekow Taylor

Group Geology Manager

Ekow Taylor is the Group Geology Manager at Nguvu Mining Limited, providing strategic leadership to the company’s global geological functions. He oversees exploration, mineral resource estimation, and mine geology, aligning activities with corporate goals to drive operational efficiency and long-term success.

With over 20 years of experience across Africa, Australia, Europe, and South America, Ekow has led geological projects in corporate, operational, and consultancy roles. Before joining Nguvu Mining, he served as Senior Principal Geology Consultant at Mining Plus Pty, Chief Managing Geologist at Monument Mining Limited in Australia, and held senior leadership roles with St Barbara Ltd (Australia), Cardinal Resources Ltd (Australia), Gold Fields (St Ives & Tarkwa), OZ Minerals Prominent Hill (Australia) and Golden Star Wassa Limited (Ghana).

He is a Fellow and Chartered Professional Geologist of AusIMM, a Member of Australian Institute of Company Directors and is recognized as a Competent/Qualified Person for Exploration and mineral resource reporting under international reporting standards, including JORC, NI 43-101, SAMREC and SK-1300.

Known for his strategic vision and technical expertise, Ekow is committed to advancing geological sciences while prioritizing safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Nketia Gyedu

Acting General Manager - Northern Ashanti Mines Limited

Nketia is the Acting General Manager for Northern Ashanti Mines Limited, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, profitability and sustainability of the mine. He is also responsible for ensuring efficient use of resources, including equipment, labor and materials, implementing strategies to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.

Before NAML, he worked as the Chief Mine Geologist Manager for Adamus Resources Limited, and previously as the Exploration & Mine Geology Consultant with Gold Fields Ghana Limited. Until then he was the Exploration & Mine manager at PMI gold corporation where he led exploration activities to optimize project feasibility and resource classification. He also worked Geology Manager, with GMA Resources and as a Senior Mine Geologist, with Gold Fields Ghana Limited.

Nketia holds a BSc. Geology & Physics, from University of Ghana, Legon and an MDP from University of Stellenbosch Business School under the Goldfields Ghana Management Development Programme. He also holds various industry certifications in grade control, mineral resource technology, database management, and exploration techniques.

He is a fellow member of the West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum (WAIMM) and a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. (WAIMM).
