Following the recent disturbances on 1st April 2022 by some illegal miners from various mining communities in the Ellembelle District, the Parliamentary Committee for Mines and Energy visited the Adamus Site to meet with the chiefs and other stakeholders as part of efforts to restore a long-lasting harmony between the communities and the company.
Among the parliamentary delegation who visited the site were Hon Elvis Morris Donkoh (Vice-Chairman), Hon John Abdullai Jinapor (Ranking Member), Hon Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah (Member), and Hon Edward Abambire Bawa (Member).
After the meeting, the DCE for Ellembele District, Hon Kwasi Bonzo revealed to the press that the stakeholders had agreed to release some acres of land to the communities to start community mining to help reduce unemployment in the communities and demoralise the youth from encroaching land from the Adamus consignment. According to the DCE, the process for the acquisition of the site had already started and was optimistic for a very fruitful outcome.
